PET injection moulded syringes for angioplasty perform better than PP

Syringes have to withstand high pressures during angioplasty. Polypropylene (PP) syringes used so far, have limitations in withstanding these pressures, particularly at a higher level. A new type of syringe from Eastar PET has successfully withstood 50% higher pressure compared to PP. Designed to operate in conjunction with a new type of injector that controls the delivery of a contrast medium into the patient's blood system, SEDAT's (injection moulder) ELS 200 ml-angiographic syringe is innovation both in concept and performance.

In comparison with the previous state-of-the-art syringe moulded in polypropylene, it can be fit to the injector by simply sliding it into a holding sleeve and locking it in position instead of the 3-4 fitting steps previously required. Additionally PET offers excellent clarity, excellent stress crack resistance.

This new type of syringe has been marketed worldwide since early 2005. Due to the improved performance it provides, combined with user-friendliness and ease of operation, the product has opened a new market niche by filling a gap in the delivery device offer to the medical sector.
