New equipments to process higher concentration of cellulosic fillers in polymers

To utilise and exploit the waste of lumber industry as well as other materials like rice husks, peanut shells bamboo or sugar cane, plastic machinery manufacturers are developing specially coated conical twin screw extrusion systems. Cincinnati extrusion have developed special equipments that can produce profiles made from 80-85% woodflour in core sections and skin layers of PP and EVA. Moisture level of wood and cellulosic is a problem. These new equipments can handle cellulosic fillers with moisture level of five - seven percentage without the need of drying. The market of highly filled (wood) profiles is growing quite well in North America; Europe and Asia are in the early development stage.
