Gharda Chemicals Limited, a well reputed and innovative chemical
company has made India the first Asian country to manufacture a
family of speciality engineering plastics belonging to Poly Sulfane
(PS) and Polyether Ether ketone (PEEK) using in- house technology.
PS and PEEK have high temperature resistance. These products can
be used in applications demanding continuous use at temperatures
ranging beyond 180 - 200°C. In fact, some of these materials can
have a critical temperature as high as 200-250°C. Besides, high
thermal properties, they also have excellent resistance to radiation.
Combining these two unique features, these polymers have found several
applications in electrical / electronic (Trays for chips, Electrical
connectors) and in medical segments (Membrane for Dialysis). Their
excellent chemical resistance is responsible for their use not only
in the medical field (Dialysis Membrane), but also for information
technology (printer cartridges). Their fire resistance characteristics
are responsible for their selection in the aerospace industry. Dr.
Prakash Trivedi, Head of Polymer Division of Gharda Chemicals during
his presentation in the memory of Late Prof. N. R. Kamath at Mumbai
on 24/1/2001 was very optimistic that this family of Polysulfones
and Polyether Ether Ketone from India will help Indian plastic processors
to upgrade their manufacturing facilities and participate in the
sophisticated speciality market segments. More details on products
