The first large scale production facility for the manufacture of 'CURV' - a self-reinforced PP sheet, is now commissioned at Gronau, Germany on the site of fabrics and fiber division's woven plant. These sheets have thickness range of 0.3mm-3mm and are produced from PP fabrics using BP's new process. These sheets have an excellent low temperature flexibility as well as good abrasion. The initial targeted applications are in the automobile sector for trunk panels and underbody shields. They would also find application in sports goods as well as personal protection products. The sheet would be processed by thermoforming process for end use. BP also has installed a big thermoforming line for conversion of 'CURV' PP sheets.
