  • COOL3D (6/89)
a 3-D mold-cooling program written to minimize required input data and user time; uses a cycle-averaged 3-D mold analysis (boundary-element method) coupled iteratively with a transient 1-D conduction analysis (finite-difference method) of melt domain so as to match the cycle-averaged mold/melt interfacial temperature and heat flux; the program can handle a homogeneous 3-D mold with a thin cavity and a cooling system which may contain circular channels, baffles and bubblers; output includes cycle time, temperature & flux distributions, total heat load, heat removed by cooling channels and temperature non-uniformities on the part surface
