The 5th Plastindia exhibition held
at Delhi between 15th-20th February with 1100 exhibitors, including
200 foreign exhibitors, spread over more than 47000 sq.meter area,
was a great showcase for the Indian plastics industry. It indeed
was the largest show in Asia! Besides Europeans, many Asians, including
Chinese, also participated in the exhibition indicating increasing
recognition of the Plastindia Exhibition and the business opportunities
in the Indian subcontinent for the plastics industry.
While many of the major international raw material
suppliers like Chevron Phillips, Dow, Dupont, Exxon-Mobil, GE demonstrated
Polyolefins, ETPs etc, the middle Eastern suppliers such as Borouge,
Equate, Sabic and Qapco were present to showcase their products
in the Indian markets. Basell Polyolefins launched its Indian marketing
at this exhibition.
The Indian raw material suppliers such as Reliance-IPCL,
Gail, Haldia, Supreme Petro, Bayer ABS exhibited their products
as well as some newer applications that have shaped up in the Indian
markets.
What was impressive was the demonstration of the very wide range
of products from the Indian additives, compounding and masterbatch
suppliers. Newer products such as biodegradable compounds, masterbatches,
conductive compounds etc. were showcased by the Indian manufacturers.
Interestingly, additive suppliers also introduced newer products
like nano clays etc.
The plastics machinery suppliers brought about
high output equipments with more sophisticated control systems.
Rajoo Engineers demonstrated the World’s first coextruded
PPTQ film line with 180Kg/hour production. It had an outer layer
of random PP to provide low sealing characteristics.
Mamata-Brampton demonstrated 400bags/minute bag making machine.
Kolsite demonstrated its Three layer plant with Oscillating and
NIP Processing along with many other plants. Exxon Metallocene was
used for the plant demonstrations Next generation 92-28 K Twin Extruder
Pipe plant alongwith double Spider Diehead having 900 kgs/hour output
even on smaller dia pipes.
While most of the major International plastics
processing equipment suppliers were present, none of them demonstrated
any machines. A possible reason - the present investment climate
in the Indian plastics industry is not very optimistic. Or the international
equipments are really not very competitive compared to the Indian
equipments in the traditional application segments.
Some of the well respected Indian processors like
Jain Irrigation demonstrated a very good quality product range used
in the modern farming and agriculture. Similarly some other processors
like Xpro showcased several packaging products. These end-products
indeed have improved in quality over the last decade and can meet
the global requirements. Supreme displayed a wide range of their
products with focused attention on export market. These plastics
end-products certainly can be considered as contenders for the global
markets.
Most of the exhibitors were quite satisfied with the business inquiries
that they received at the show. All of them opined that most of
the visitors were serious business visitors. The foreign visitors
from more than 40 countries had not only concluded actual business
transactions, but were very well impressed with the quality of products,
machines, moulds, technologies. The level of display was easily
comparable as at par with international exhibitions like K. This
clearly indicates the big success of the 5th PlastIndia exhibition.
As usual during exhibition, International Conference, International
Buyer Seller Meet and Plasticon Awards were the highlights of this
mega events.
