Also two of our most eminent scientists - Professor M.M. Sharma (F.R.S.) Padma Vibhushan and Dr. R.A. Mashelkar (F.R.S.) Padma Bhushan, have stated that "There is no human activity where plastics do not play a key role, from clothing to shelters, from transportation to communications and from entertainment to health care".

With all factors in favour of plastics why is India one of the lowest per capita consumers? Why have duties and taxes, throughout the years not been aligned to allow wider use of plastics, in vital Nation Building Applications? Is the Industry ready to accept this challenge for the future ?
